Her husband, Cyril, initially told police that she was under severe emotional distress after failing to secure a transfer in her job. He claimed that the disappointment over the transfer issue may have led to the incident. However, relatives of the deceased raised different allegations, stating that there were ongoing marital issues between the couple. They said Sharanya earlier lodged a complaint with police against her husband over domestic disputes. Police officials said preliminary findings suggested that Sharanya’s death was linked to alleged harassment by her husband.
