Jaipur: Even as Rajasthan recovers from a recent spell of rain and hailstorms, large parts of the state continue to record below-normal temperatures, with largely dry weather prevailing. The Meteorological Centre in Jaipur, meanwhile, has issued fresh alerts for thunderstorms, rain and hail across several parts of the state between April 6 and 8.In terms of temperatures, Barmer emerged as the hottest place Sunday at just over 35°C, though still below normal for this time of the year. It was followed by Jawai Dam at 34.2°C, Kota at 34°C, and Jodhpur and Dungarpur both at 33.3°C. Other cities like Jaisalmer (32.9°C), Churu (32.1°C), Bikaner (31.4°C) and Sikar (30.5°C) also recorded subdued day temperatures.Jaipur recorded a maximum temperature of 32.2°C and a minimum of 21.8°C Sunday, with no rainfall over the past 24 hours even though cloudy conditions prevailed.Rainfall activity across the state also remained largely negligible, with Sriganganagar recording a lone spell of 1.8 mm rainfall.“An average dip of 6°C in minimum and maximum temperatures was witnessed across the state,” an official at the Jaipur Met office said. “No place witnessed heat wave conditions and the weather remained mostly pleasant across the state,” he added.In the days ahead, the Met office expects a strong western disturbance to become active from April 6 and likely impact Jodhpur, Bikaner and Ajmer divisions, along with the Shekhawati region. These areas may witness thunderstorms, wind gusts of up to 40-50 kmph, light to moderate rain and isolated hailstorms.Weather activity is expected to intensify further on April 7, with Jodhpur, Bikaner, Ajmer, Jaipur, Bharatpur and Kota divisions likely to experience thunderstorms and dust storms, with winds reaching 50-60 kmph and accompanied by moderate to heavy rainfall and hailstorms at isolated places.Light to moderate rainfall is forecast over northern and eastern parts of the state on April 8, with most other regions remaining mostly dry. The weather in Rajasthan is expected to stabilise starting April 9, the Met office said, with dry conditions prevailing across most regions for the next 3-4 days.
