Varanasi: Two men posing as parents seeking admission for a child entered a govt primary school in Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia district and snatched the gold chain of an assistant teacher inside her classroom on Monday morning before fleeing. Police said they have obtained crucial leads and expect to arrest the accused soon.Ballia circle officer (Rasra) Rajnish Kumar said police had gathered important clues about the accused and that they would be nabbed soon.During the investigation, police found that around 7.30 am on Monday, assistant teacher Anupama Singh was sitting in her classroom at Ibrahim Tola Primary School under the Bhimpura police station area. At that time, two unidentified men entered the school on the pretext of inquiring about the admission process. While speaking to the teacher, they suddenly snatched her gold chain and fled.Before the other school staff and villagers could respond to Singh’s cries for help, the miscreants had escaped. Police reached the spot soon after receiving information about the incident.Kumar said teams from the Bhimpura police station, the Surveillance Cell, and the Special Operations Group (SOG) have been deployed to investigate the case. Police also examined CCTV footage from nearby areas, which indicated that the accused fled towards the Madhuban area of Mau district.
