Varanasi: All meat and fish shops within the limits of the VMC will remain closed on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti on Tuesday.Municipal commissioner Himanshu Nagpal directed officials concerned to strictly enforce the order. “The govt has imposed a ban on sale of meat and fish across the state on Mahavir Jayanti, respecting religious sentiments and to maintain peace. On the govt’s directive, the municipal corporation has ordered closure of all such shops in the city,” said a VMC official.Veterinary and Welfare Officer Dr Santosh Pal said if any such shop is found open on Tuesday, strict legal action will be taken. tnn
