Mumbai: Observing that papers on record clearly establish the roles of the accused in abducting and unlawfully confining the victims with an intention to kill them, special MCOCA court on Monday rejected the bail pleas of three men accused of abducting and torturing two individuals over a failed drug manufacturing deal in 2025. Yunus Thayvallapil, Mohd Tausif Jendi, and Nirav Solanki sought release following their arrest by the Mumbai Crime Branch in July 2025, in connection with the abduction of an estate agent and media channel owner Sajjid Electricwala. After release on bail in an NDPS case, Electricwala introduced the informant to Sarvar Khan. On March 31, 2025, Khan allegedly paid Electricwala Rs 50 lakh to manufacture contraband MD. When Electricwala failed to supply the drugs within 10 days, a dispute arose, leading the accused to target both men. On June 12, 2025, the accused abducted and transported them to a bungalow in Neral. The informant was tied up and brutally assaulted. In an attempt to humiliate and extort him, the captors filmed him being forced to strip and dance. After two days of torture, the informant escaped through a window on June 14, 2025. Although he initially hesitated due to fear, he lodged a formal complaint on July 10, 2025. While the informant was free, the syndicate moved Electricwala across Maharashtra before transporting him to Uttar Pradesh. Following the report, a police task force tracked the group to UP, rescued Electricwala, and arrested several suspects, including Thayvallapil and Jendi.
