New Delhi: Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has issued instructions to install display boards at all sites where development works worth Rs 10 lakh and above are in progress.According to a recent circular, the boards will provide key details of projects, including the nature of work, sanctioned amount, date of commencement, funding scheme, name of contractor, date of completion, name of the executive engineer with contact details, and a QR code for the work order. The move aims to improve transparency and facilitate better monitoring of ongoing work. It will also facilitate the department concerned to carry out random site visits to assess the quality of work and verify whether timelines are being adhered to.“It is therefore directed to install weather-resistant metal display boards of size 3 feet (horizontal) X 4 feet (vertical) at project sites abutting public roads or at a conspicuous place at eye level (without hindering movement),” the circular stated. The information will be in black letters on a white background and will be superscribed with MCD.The circular further stated that the cost of installing these boards will be borne by the respective contractor. “The quality control cell shall invariably record the aspect regarding installation or non-installation of display boards in construction inspection reports. The provision will also be incorporated in all notices inviting tenders in future and will be applicable in cases where the last date of bid submission has lapsed,” it added.MCD is currently implementing various projects under different heads, including construction of roads, parks and drains, funded through MLALAD and Delhi govt schemes. Officials said the display boards will also help inform local residents about project timelines and expected completion dates.
