New Delhi: Lieutenant governor TS Sandhu reviewed the status of ongoing projects during a meeting with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) commissioner and senior officials.Emphasising the need to focus on key civic issues, such as garbage management, road repairs, dust mitigation and bioremediation, the LG flagged concerns over citizen grievances and directed officials to address them in a time-bound manner.Sandhu asked the MCD officials to remain open to feedback and work towards bridging the gap between on-ground realities and public expectations. He also stressed the need for better coordination among civic agencies. He said organisations providing civic services, including MCD, Delhi Development Authority, Delhi Jal Board, Public Works Department and irrigation & flood control department, should avoid passing responsibility on jurisdictional grounds and instead put in place a mechanism for seamless coordination on public issues.“I reviewed the status and progress of key tasks and initiatives being undertaken by the MCD in delivering essential civic services. While appreciating the efforts made over the past few years, despite legacy constraints and financial challenges, I emphasised that much more needs to be done — particularly in the areas of garbage management, road repairs, dust mitigation, and prompt resolution of issues flagged by citizens,” the LG said on X.He said MCD should work towards becoming an example for other urban local bodies.Sandhu added that discussions around MCD should focus on making it a more responsive and citizen-oriented organisation.
