As part of the special intensive revision (SIR) of voter list, Mysuru City Corporation officials on Sunday conducted an awareness campaign in different parts of the city

Mysuru: The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) intensified its awareness and field inspection drive under the EC’s special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, urging citizens to actively participate in the revision process by promptly submitting the prescribed SIR forms.As part of the campaign, awareness messages were broadcast through loudspeakers across several residential localities, informing residents that SIR forms are being distributed to every household and collected by booth level officers (BLOs) on Sunday.The campaign aimed to ensure that all eligible voters are aware of the ongoing revision exercise and complete the required formalities within the stipulated timeframe.

To review the progress of the initiative, Mysuru City Corporation commissioner MK Savitha, accompanied by electoral registration officer (ERO) Somashekhar of the KR Assembly constituency, conducted door-to-door inspections in various neighbourhoods. The officials interacted directly with residents to verify whether SIR forms were distributed and collected efficiently by the BLOs.During the visit, the officials also sought feedback from the public regarding the ongoing revision process. Citizens were encouraged to share their experiences, while officials clarified doubts related to the forms, voter eligibility and the submission procedure on the spot. The interaction helped address misconceptions and ensured that residents understood the importance of participating in the electoral roll revision exercise, the MCC said.Assistant electoral registration officers (AEROs) and other election officials accompanied the inspection teams, monitoring field-level activities to ensure the SIR programme was being implemented effectively and in accordance with Election Commission guidelines. Officials reviewed the performance of BLOs and stressed the need for timely completion of the exercise to maintain an accurate and updated electoral roll.The MCC appealed to eligible voters to extend their full cooperation by filling in the SIR forms accurately and returning them to their respective BLO without delay. Authorities emphasised that public participation is essential for preparing error-free electoral rolls and ensuring that every eligible citizen is able to exercise their democratic right to vote in future elections.
