Mysuru: As part of the Union govt-sponsored Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) on Thursday launched a cleanliness drive along the 42-km Outer Ring Road (ORR) and carried out sanitation initiatives in garbage-sensitive areas across the city.MCC commissioner MK Savitha began an inspection at 7am from Hinkal flyover, reviewing cleanliness along various stretches of the ORR. The inspection focused on roadside waste, removal of weeds and bushes, and other civic issues. The Swachhata Hi Seva drive was later flagged off near Kesare STP, with corporation officials, staff and civic workers participating in cleaning operations.Savitha also inspected a garbage-vulnerable site in Vidyashankar Nagar, where waste-free and long-term transformation measures have been implemented. The team then visited an area near the Lansdowne Building that was previously used for open urination. The site has since been cleaned, beautified and equipped with maintenance measures to prevent unhygienic conditions from recurring.Maintaining cleanliness is not a one-day activity but a shared and continuous responsibility of both citizens and the administration, Savitha said. She added that MCC is identifying garbage-dumping spots and open-urination-prone locations and taking steps to permanently transform such areas.
