Mysuru: The literary spirit of Mysuru Dasara will come alive with the five-day Dasara Kavi Goshti, scheduled from Oct 13 to 17 at the BM Shri Auditorium, Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies, Manasagangotri.Addressing reporters, Dasara Kavi Goshti Sub-Committee deputy special officer M Dasegowda said the event has been organised to add a literary dimension to the Dasara festivities and provide a platform for poets representing different generations and genres.The programme will begin on Oct 13 with a session on ‘Epigram and Humour’, to be inaugurated by senior writer Vaidehi. Actor Mukhyamantri Chandru will be the chief guest.The Oct 14 session will be dedicated to young poets. Poet K Sharifa will inaugurate the programme, while senior poet H Govindayya will preside over the session.The ‘Chiguru’ session on Oct 15 will provide a platform for budding poets. Children’s writer Biligiri Krishnamurthy will inaugurate the event, and writer Agrahara Krishnamurthy will preside.The Oct 16 session will focus on folk poetry, with noted folk scholar PK Rajashekara inaugurating the programme and Kannada Development Authority chairman Purushottama Bilimale presiding.The five-day literary celebration will conclude on Oct 17 with the main poetry session, to be inaugurated by poet Pratibha Nandakumar.Dasegowda said the Kavi Goshti would bring together diverse poetic voices and also feature book and trade stalls. As part of the publicity campaign, a promotional vehicle will be flagged off at 11 am on Oct 5 and will tour various parts of Mysuru to create awareness about the event.
