Mysuru: Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) will host a workshop and livelihood solutions exhibition titled “Special-Abled and Women’s Progress Path” at the Sri Rangacharlu town hall on Thursday.The primary objective of this initiative is to create employment opportunities and improve economic standing of women, and people with disabilities.Speaking at the MCC office after releasing the posters, Mysuru regional commissioner, Nitesh Patil, who is also the MCC administrator, highlighted that 5% of the civic body grants are reserved for people with disabilities, and emphasised that these funds should be utilised to provide practical livelihood training. The upcoming programme, organised in collaboration with the SELCO Foundation, will offer skill development training for self-employment using solar-powered machinery in agriculture, animal husbandry, and small-scale manufacturing.He directed officials to ensure participants receive necessary subsidies and bank loans to start their businesses following the training. He stressed the importance of monitoring their financial progress to encourage others.In addition, a ‘Clean Mysuru’ roadshow is scheduled for March 8. The rally will start from Mysuru Palace premises and culminate at the Oval Grounds under the slogan ‘Clean Mysuru Starts with Me.’ The CM was invited to inaugurate the event, which aims to bring environmental organisations and general public together.MCC commissioner Sheikh Tanveer Asif noted that it will feature vintage cars, a women’s bike rally, cycle rally, mounted police horses, and tongas. Demonstrations will be held on managing construction waste, e-waste, plastics, and biomedical waste.
