Mysuru: K Vasuki, daughter of late Padma Shri awardee, tribal artist R Krishnan, belonging to the Kurumba tribal community of Tamil Nadu, was provided free admission along with hostel facilities at JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty.Vasuki completed her higher secondary education and aspired to pursue studies in pharmaceutical sciences. However, the death of her father created financial difficulties that threatened to disrupt her academic plans, JSS Mahavidyapeetha stated in a release.

Taking note of the situation, Nilgiris DC Lakshmi Bhavya Tanneeru intervened and contacted the authorities of JSS College of Pharmacy in Ooty to facilitate her education.After being informed about the matter, Suttur Mutt seer Shivarathri Deshikendra Swami directed the institution to admit the student without charging any tuition or hostel fees.Vasuki has now commenced her studies in pharmacy at the institution, which is a constituent institution of JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, Mysuru. Her mother, Sushila, expressed gratitude to the seer and the authorities of JSS Mahavidyapeetha.
