Chandigarh: After receiving overwhelming response to its MC One Parking Pass system, the municipal corporation has introduced a new facility offering quarterly, half-yearly and yearly parking passes for frequent users, providing significant financial relief and greater convenience to city residents.Sharing details, mayor Saurabh Joshi said as per guidelines of administrator Gulab Chand Kataria, the new pass system has been designed specially for citizens who regularly use parking sites managed by the MC. The move aims at providing a cost-effective and hassle-free parking experience while strengthening parking management across the city.The mayor said under the new scheme, yearly parking pass for four-wheelers is available for just Rs 4,200, offering a saving of Rs 1,800 as compared to the existing monthly pass system. Two-wheeler users can avail yearly pass for Rs 2,100, resulting in saving of Rs 900.He said the half-yearly parking pass is available at Rs 2,200 for four-wheelers and Rs 1,100 for two-wheelers, providing savings of Rs 800 and Rs 400 respectively.For citizens who prefer shorter-duration passes, quarterly parking pass is available at Rs 1,200 for 4-wheelers and Rs 600 for 2-wheelers, ensuring savings of Rs 300 and Rs 150, respectively. He said monthly charges for making an MC One Pass are the same — Rs 500 for 4-wheelers and Rs 250 for 2-wheelers.The mayor highlighted that introduction of quarterly, half-yearly and yearly passes offers flexibility and affordability to frequent parking users. He added that this step will encourage citizens to adopt the MC One digital parking system, making parking operations more streamlined and transparent.He emphasised that the MC One Parking Pass system is not merely aimed at revenue generation but is primarily focused on improving parking management and providing better public services to residents. He added that the initiative reflects the MC’s commitment to citizen-friendly governance and efficient urban management.According to the mayor, the passes are valid across all parking sites managed by the corporation, ensuring maximum accessibility and convenience for users. The system will also help curb pilferage and leakage in parking collections, strengthening transparency and accountability in parking operations.With the launch of these new pass options, the MC expects a large number of frequent users to benefit from the scheme while contributing to better parking discipline and smoother traffic management.
