Mangaluru: A team from the bus manufacturer is expected to visit the spot on Sunday to inspect the KSRTC bus that was gutted in a fire while travelling from BC Road to Bengaluru via Subrahmanya late on Saturday night.An official from the Puttur division told TOI that the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained and an investigation is underway“KSRTC officials have already inspected the spot, while the Ashok Leyland team is scheduled to visit to examine the gutted bus and ascertain what led to the fire,” he said.The bus, belonging to the BC Road depot, was travelling from BC Road via Subrahmanya to Bengaluru when the fire broke out suddenly.“The incident occurred near Kaikamba on the Kaikamba-Gundya road, in a remote stretch in Bilinele. There were around 30-35 passengers on board when the fire broke out. No passenger was injured in the incident,” the official said.He added that the crew attempted an emergency rescue and asked passengers to get off the bus.As the passengers were being evacuated, the fire intensified, making it difficult to control the blaze.The fire broke out suddenly while the bus was in motion, he said.
