Imphal: Manipur University authorities have expressed strong condemnations over the bomb blast that occurred inside the university campus on Saturday evening.Official sources said the blast took place around 7.15pm near the gate of Type V, Block 8 of the university quarters, triggering panic among students and staff. No casualties were reported but the explosion damaged the gate of the quarters.Investigations into the incident are underway, with security forces intensifying surveillance in and around the campus.In the aftermath of the incident, the administration has stepped up security measures on the campus.The university, in a statement on Sunday, said, “This heinous act is an attack on innocent lives and the core values of education, peace, and harmony, causing deep shock across the academic community.” It further said the safety and well-being of students, faculty, and staff remain the university’s highest priority.“Authorities responded swiftly to the situation, and the university is fully cooperating with law enforcement while taking all necessary steps to strengthen campus security,” it stated, urging the community to remain calm, vigilant and united against violence.While reaffirming its commitment to a safe and secure environment, the institution also urged the public to cooperate in preserving the sanctity of the university and to support ongoing efforts to uphold peace, ensure security, and protect educational spaces as safe havens for learning and development.
