Mandya: Stating that the census is the largest public data-gathering activity in the country, DC Kumara on Monday directed all district officers and enumerators to perform their roles with responsibility.Speaking after inaugurating a district-level training workshop for census officers held at the ZP auditorium, the DC said it is the only programme that collects information from the grassroots level. The data will serve as the foundation for shaping the country’s development plans for the next 10 years, making it imperative for every individual involved in the process to act with diligence. He stressed the need for seamless coordination among all participating officials. This marks the eighth census conducted since Independence and holds the distinction of being the first to be carried out entirely in digital mode. Kumara said the census will occur in two phases: the first phase, involving house-listing fieldwork, is scheduled from April 16 to May 15, while the second phase of the actual population enumeration will take place from Feb 1 to 28 next year. Because the current census is being conducted fully online, the DC warned there will be no opportunity for corrections later. The DC instructed all designated staff to ensure completion of the project within the stipulated timeframe.
