People living in parts of Sironcha and Ahiri in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district said they felt tremors around midnight. Fearing their houses might collapse, several residents came out of their homes.Some residents said utensils fell off tables and that they could feel the ground shaking. No casualties or property damage were reported in the aftermath of the quake, according to the information available so far.Second such incident in a weekThe Mancherial earthquake comes days after a 2.9-magnitude quake was recorded on Feb 21 in the Vanasthalipuram area of Ranga Reddy district. That quake occurred at a depth of 5 km at around 8.30 am.Similarly, in Andhra Pradesh, a 3.5-magnitude quake was recorded on Feb 19 at around 2.30 am at a depth of 10 km.Telangana is considered to be in a safer seismic zone compared with AP. Scientists from the National Geophysical Research Institute earlier said that a micro-earthquake measuring 1.5 on the Richter scale was reported in Gajularamaram and Kompally on Feb 10. As it was shallow, tremors were felt, though they were of low intensity.
