Chennai: A 30-year-old man who suffered a head injury after falling during an altercation at a restaurant in Kelambakkam last week succumbed to his injuries. Police altered the case to murder.The deceased, Kirubakaran of Thaiyur panchayat near Thiruporur, had gone to a restaurant on July 28 to buy parotta. According to police, an argument broke out between him and the restaurant owner over pending dues for food purchased earlier.The verbal exchange escalated into a physical scuffle, during which Kirubakaran lost his balance and fell, suffering a severe head injury. He was admitted to a private hospital in Kelambakkam, where he had been undergoing treatment.Despite treatment, he died on Sunday. Following his death, police altered the case to murder and arrested the restaurant owner, Kuppandi, 43. Kirubakaran’s body was sent to the Chengalpet GH for postmortem.
