Pune: A 35-year-old man was stabbed by his younger brother following a heated argument at Dattanagar in Chinchwad on Saturday afternoon.The victim works as a driver for Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s garbage collection fleet. He sustained a stab wound to his stomach and bruises on his left shoulder and is undergoing treatment at Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital (YCMH) in Pimpri. He lodged a complaint against his brother with Pimpri police on Sunday.An officer from Pimpri police said the complainant wanted to shift from Dattanagar to another place as he felt his children were being affected by the slum environment. “On Saturday afternoon, while he was discussing the matter with his sister, the accused started abusing him and quarrelling while accusing him of ‘breaking the family’.”The accused’s wife told the victim to step outside the house to avoid escalating the argument. However, the accused followed him outside and stabbed him. “The accused’s wife intervened and prevented him from assaulting his brother again. The accused hit him again and fled. The accused’s wife and their neighbours took the victim to the hospital,” the officer said.Police have registered a case against the accused and arrested him on the charge of voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means.
