Ara: A 34-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by unidentified miscreants at Badki Kharaon village under Sahar police station area in Bhojpur district on Wednesday morning. The deceased was identified as Vikrant Kumar Singh, a resident of the village, who had an old land dispute with a co-villager, police said.According to the police, Vikrant had gone to his agricultural field on Wednesday morning. While returning home on his motorcycle, he was allegedly attacked by unidentified assailants who had been lying in wait about 25 metres from his house. The attackers repeatedly assaulted him with sharp-edged weapons. Vikrant sustained deep injuries to his head, chest and other parts of the body and died on the way to the Sahar Community Health Centre (CHC).Sahar SHO Subodh Kumar told TOI, “One person has been taken into custody for questioning. Prima facie, the incident appears to have stemmed from a personal dispute. The exact motive will become clear after a complaint is filed and an FIR is lodged by the victim’s family. Further investigation is underway. We have sent the body to Ara Sadar Hospital for postmortem.”As news of the murder spread, a large number of villagers gathered at the CHC. To maintain law and order, police personnel from Sahar and the neighbouring Chauri, Ajimabad and Narayanpur police stations were deployed in the area.
