Vadodara: A man died after a crocodile attacked him in Vishwamitri River on Saturday evening in Talsat village, on the outskirts of the city. The incident occurred when Ranchhod Rathod was walking on the banks of the river. He suddenly slipped and fell into the river that’s brimming with water due to monsoons.Before he could swim out, a crocodile attacked Rathod and dragged him away. The victim tried to save himself but the reptile drowned him in the river. When the locals learnt about it, they began a search operation and fished out Rathod’s body from the river late on Saturday night.Vishwamitri River is home to hundreds of crocodiles and hence the authorities keep organising awareness campaigns, wherein people are asked to stay away from the river, especially during monsoons.
