Alwar: A man was shot dead over a 200-yard plot dispute in Gamodki village under Sikri police station area of Deeg district Wednesday.The deceased has been identified as Jagtar Singh (46). Police said the dispute had been continuing for about a month, with some villagers allegedly attempting to grab the land. Sikri station house officer Mukesh Chainchi said Singh died from a gunshot wound Wednesday night. A case has been registered on the complaint of the deceased’s younger brother, Jagjit Singh, and police teams are searching for the accused. The post-mortem was conducted Thursday and the body was handed over to the family, he said. According to Jagjit, the family had purchased the 200-yard plot in the village a month ago, after which tensions developed between two families. He alleged that Wednesday, four men came outside their house and began hurling abuses. When Jagtar went outside and asked them to stop, Amrik Singh, Jaswant Singh and Raju allegedly grabbed him, while Sukhvinder Singh pulled out a country-made pistol and fired. The accused then fled, he said. Jagtar was taken to Sikri hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Police have registered a case against eight people, including Amrik, Jaswant, Raju, Sukhvinder, Rajinder, Jasvir, Harvansh and Mukhtiyar Singh.
