Mangaluru: A man was robbed after miscreants threw chilli powder on him and fled with cash. The complainant is Mohammad Mansoor, who worked as a cooking supervisor at a hall in Ganjimutt for the past seven years. Around 8.45 pm on Sunday, after finishing work, he was riding his scooter towards Moodushedde via Edapadavu.Around 9.10 pm, when he reached Banglegudde, two youths standing by the roadside stopped his scooter and told him that their vehicle had broken down. When Mansoor approached their scooter and began checking the petrol pipe, the youths suddenly threw chilli powder on his body and into his eyes. As the chilli powder caused a burning sensation in his eyes, Mansoor began rubbing them. During this time, he overheard the youths speaking in Tulu, saying, “There should be cash in the underseat storage.” Moments later, Mansoor stopped a passing vehicle, requested water and washed his face. After informing them about the incident, he checked his scooter’s storage compartment and found that Rs 46,000 in cash was missing. The unidentified youths fled the scene. A complaint has been registered at the Bajpe police station.
