Patna: A man allegedly killed his wife by slitting her throat over suspicion of her affair with a man, in Bhatgaon village under Galgalia police station area in Kishanganj district on Monday night. The body of the woman was found 20 metres away from the house on Tuesday.The accused husband, who fled after the incident, worked in Delhi and he would often accuse her over phone of having an affair. The couple had been married for 15 years and have four children—three sons and a daughter.The deceased was identified as Zoya Khatun (35), wife of Mohammad Alam. The Zoya’s brother said, “Everything was fine between the two until 2024. In July 2025, Alam went to work in Delhi. As the distance grew, frequent fights started between the two. Whenever Zoya’s phone was busy, Alam would start abusing her. He came to Kishanganj just 10 days ago.”On Monday night too, he first started an argument with Zoya and physically assaulted her. He first hit her head with a heavy object leaving her unconscious. After that, he dragged her 20 metres away from the house and slit her throat with a sickle. She died on the spot. At the time of the incident, all the children were sleeping in another room.Zoya’s brother further said, “After the incident, Alam called him in the wee hours of Tuesday and said he had killed Zoya. He asked me to take the body. We immediately left for Bhatgaon village and found the body around 5am. After that, we informed the police.”Galgalia SHO Rakesh Kumar said the accused fled after killing the woman. Police are conducting raids to arrest him. “The accused will be arrested soon,” he added.
