Patna: In a suspected case of honour killing, a man allegedly killed his 19-year-old daughter by hitting on her head with an iron table fan following an argument over her love affair in Gopalganj district on Sunday night. The incident took place at Gaura Bazar village under Kateya police station area of the district.The victim, identified as Monika Kumari, was the only daughter of Janardan Karmkar, who was arrested shortly after the incident. Monika’s mother had died last year.Police said an argument broke out between the father and daughter over her relationship with a youth from the same village, which he opposed. The quarrel escalated, and in a fit of rage, the accused allegedly struck Monika on the head with an iron table fan, killing her on the spot.After the incident, the accused was found crying while holding his daughter’s body. Hearing his cries, neighbours rushed to the spot and informed the police.Kateya SHO Awdhesh Kumar said preliminary investigation confirmed that disputes over the relationship had been ongoing for several months. “On Sunday night, the argument turned violent, and the accused assaulted his daughter with an iron table fan. This has been recovered, and the body sent for post-mortem,” he said.
