Patna: Nalanda University (NU), Rajgir, and South Asian University (SAU), New Delhi, on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in academic and research programmes. The MoU was formally signed at the NU campus in Rajgir, officials said.The agreement was signed by Prof K K Aggarwal, president of SAU—an international university sponsored by the eight member nations of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC)—and Prof Sachin Chaturvedi, vice chancellor of Nalanda University, in the presence of experts, dignitaries, government officials and students.Addressing the gathering, Prof Aggarwal said the MoU aims to expand collaboration in academic and research domains and create meaningful opportunities for students of both institutions.Prof Chaturvedi termed the partnership a new beginning in collaborative academic engagement and said it would provide students exposure to best academic practices and intellectual resources of both universities.The MoU envisages joint research supervision, teaching programmes, post-doctoral opportunities, academic conferences, symposiums, publications, and exchange of faculty, researchers and students. It also promotes sharing of academic resources and scholarly materials to ensure sustained knowledge exchange and long-term institutional engagement.Both NU and SAU are premier international institutions governed by the ministry of external affairs, Govt of India, and are known for their distinct mandates and global outlook.
