Gurdaspur: A man shot dead his younger brother and sister-in-law over a property dispute in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district on Tuesday night, police said.Amarjit Singh (alias Amba), the accused, was arrested the next day. Police said Amarjit ambushed Ajaib Singh (52) on a secluded road near a poultry farm in Nainkot village, shooting him in the head. The accused then allegedly drove his scooter to Ajaib’s residence and gunned down his wife, Kamal Kaur (50). The couple is survived by two sons—one residing in Australia and the other in Bihar. Police sources said the brothers were locked in a bitter dispute over nine kanals of ancestral land. Although the family had spent years in Jamshedpur (Tata Nagar), Jharkhand, they returned to the village last year. Despite multiple panchayat meetings to settle the division, agreements repeatedly collapsed. Senior superintendent of police Aditya confirmed that Amarjit Singh has been arrested and several others rounded up for questioning.
