Imphal: A 45-year-old man was killed in firing by suspected Naga militants at Govajang village along the IT Road in Kangpokpi district Saturday evening.The deceased has been identified as Haokholal Singsit, a resident of Govajang village. He was working in a paddy field along with his wife when the attack took place.The Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) has condemned the incident and alleged that the attack at Govajang village at around 4pm this evening was carried out by the NSCN-IM and ZUF Kamson group.Meanwhile, the Kuki Civic Action Committee (KCAC) has said despite govt assurances to ensure the safety of villages and civilians within the district, another Kuki civilian has been shot dead while he was working in his farm with his wife.KCAC demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the killing of Singsit. “The central and state govt will bear full responsibility for any further deterioration of the situation caused by their continued inaction, selective enforcement of the law and failure to protect the Kuki people,” it added.
