Kanpur: A 42-year-old man died after being hit by a speeding vehicle in the Govind Nagar police station area on Thursday evening.The deceased, identified as Ajit, was a resident of Loknayak Colony in Dada Nagar. Police said the accident took place around 7pm when he was returning home on foot and was hit by a speeding vehicle in the Dada Nagar factory area.He died on the spot, while the driver fled the scene.Police took the body into custody and launched efforts to establish his identity.The deceased’s family reached the Govind Nagar police station on Friday to file a missing person’s complaint. The cops showed them a photograph of the deceased, and they identified him from his clothes.Govind Nagar station house officer Ashok Kumar Dubey said a case would be registered on the basis of the family’s complaint.He said footage from nearby CCTV cameras was being examined and further action would be taken after the vehicle and its driver were identified.
