Varanasi: A 26-year-old man died on the spot after his speeding motorcycle collided with an unidentified pickup van near Japla village in Dudhi Kotwali area of Sonbhadra district on Sunday evening.The deceased was identified as Babulal, a resident of Chauna under Babhani police limits. His relative, Hanslal, who was riding pillion, escaped unhurt.According to reports, Babulal had been staying with his wife Manmati at his in-laws’ house in Bagbiyani Tola, Dhanora for about a month. On Sunday, Hanslal (35), a resident of Lalimaati Belhathi under Hathinala police station, visited the house with his wife and two children.Soon after Hanslal’s arrival, Babulal took him for a bike ride around the village. Near Japla village, the motorcycle went out of control and collided with a pickup vehicle coming from the opposite direction. Babulal fell on the road and sustained fatal injuries. He died on the spot. The pickup driver fled with the vehicle after the accident.On receiving information, Town outpost in charge Harikesh Ram Azad reached the spot with a team and sent the body for postmortem. Police said efforts are underway to trace the unidentified pickup vehicle and further legal action is being taken.
