Chandigarh: Chandigarh Police arrested a man for allegedly possessing heroin in Sector 29 on Friday night. He was produced before a local court, which remanded him to judicial custody.The accused was identified as Mukesh Kumar alias Chikna, a resident of Sector 29.According to police, a team from Industrial Area Phase I police station was on patrol in Sector 29 as part of a drive against anti-social elements and was checking suspicious persons. Near the sub-office of the R&D Division, the team spotted Mukesh approaching on foot.On noticing the police party, he allegedly attempted to flee. However, the police chased and apprehended him.During a search, police claimed to have recovered 10.4 grams of heroin from his possession.The contraband was seized and a case under the NDPS Act was registered against the accused. Further investigation is underway.
