Varanasi: Azamgarh police arrested a man for allegedly procuring two passports using forged educational certificates bearing different dates of birth. The accused, identified as Mohammad Kirman of Rasoolpur village, was arrested by Bardah police on Sunday following an investigation into the alleged fraud.Azamgarh SP Anil Kumar said a district-wide drive to identify people who obtained passports using forged documents is underway. As part of the campaign, Bardah police arrested Kirman.Police swung into action after receiving complaints that Kirman had secured two passports by using forged educational certificates carrying different dates of birth. During the investigation, the allegations were found to be prima facie true, following which Bardah police registered a case against him under various sections of the IPC related to cheating and forgery, besides provisions of the Passport Act.After learning that cases had been registered against him, Kirman went absconding. However, on Sunday, police arrested him near the Kharat canal culvert.
