Ludhiana: In a shocking case, a 31-year-old man allegedly sexually assaulted his three-year-old daughter in Ludhiana. Police have officially booked and arrested the accused, who is a father of two daughters and described as a habitual drunkard. According to the complainant, he and his companions were grazing goats when they heard a child’s cries. Upon rushing to the spot, they reportedly found the accused assaulting the girl. The group immediately intervened to rescue the screaming victim, noting that the father appeared intoxicated. While they consoled the child, the accused managed to flee the scene.The victim was subsequently handed over to her mother, and the police were informed. Following the report, officers reached the site and initiated a probe, later booking the suspect for rape. The accused was apprehended on Wednesday night and produced before a court on Thursday, which granted a one-day police remand. Officials lauded the timely efforts of the complainant and the fellow goat herders who came to the victim’s rescue. This incident adds to a troubling series of kinship-related crimes in the region. In July 2025, a man was booked for raping his minor stepdaughter in Jodhan. On June 12, 2025, Ludhiana rural police booked a man for the rape of his minor niece in Jagraon. Additionally, on March 25, 2025, a case was registered against a man for raping his 13-year-old daughter while alone at home.
