Ludhiana: With the first phase of the Digital Census-2027 scheduled to commence on May 15, residents across the state will have the opportunity to update answers to 33 specific questions online from April 30 until May 14. This initial houselisting and housing phase allows for self-enumeration through the web portal [https://se.census.gov.in](https://se.census.gov.in). Upon submitting their information, citizens will receive a unique self-enumeration (SE) ID via mobile or email. When enumerators eventually visit their doorsteps for the house-to-house exercise, residents simply need to share this ID for final data confirmation and submission.Meanwhile, a three-day training session for field trainers began at the municipal corporation (MC) office on Thursday. As Census-2027 marks the first time the exercise is being conducted digitally, the programme emphasises updated digital tools and standardised procedures to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and transparency. These trainers will subsequently instruct supervisors and enumerators on key aspects, including household listing, data validation protocols, and the use of handheld electronic devices. Special focus is being placed on inclusivity, data confidentiality, and strict adherence to timelines, alongside detailed explanations of the HLO app and self-enumeration processes.Senior officials highlighted the census as a critical exercise for national planning, urging trainers to work with professionalism to reflect the country’s true demographic profile. MC commissioner Neeru Katyal Gupta emphasised the administration’s commitment to a systematic and transparent process with stakeholder cooperation. The sessions were conducted under the guidance of commissioner Gupta and joint commissioner-cum-nodal officer Vineet Kumar, with deputy director Ruchi Gupta in attendance. Master trainers Jasbir Singh Sandhu and Upma Kaul led the instruction, supported by superintendent Tarun Goyal and other officials. Continuous monitoring mechanisms have been established to address any operational challenges throughout this digital transition.MSID:: 129980685 413 |
