Chennai: A 23-year-old man was arrested after he harassed a newly married woman and assaulted her husband at the Kilambakkam bus terminus on Tuesday night. The accused was overpowered and beaten by fellow passengers before being handed over to the police.Police said the newlywed couple from Manapakkam near Porur reached Kilambakkam bus terminus at 10.30 pm to board a bus to their native place in Polur, Tiruvannamalai district. As they were walking along the platform, the accused, identified as Bala of Panruti, approached them in an inebriated state and began harassing the woman.When the couple objected to his behaviour, Bala attacked the husband in front of his wife, leading to a scuffle. Other passengers who witnessed the incident intervened, thrashed the accused and handed him over to police personnel stationed at the bus terminus.Based on a complaint lodged by the woman, Kilambakkam police registered a case and arrested Bala.
