Bagalkot: A man who filmed his wife’s act of alleged suicide in Galagali village of Bilagi taluk in Bagalkot, was arrested Tuesday.The deceased has been identified as 23-year-old Bhagyashree Jigallur. Police said her husband, Praveen, who was present at the time of the incident, allegedly recorded a video of the act and shared it with his in-laws.According to family members, the couple’s relationship was under strain due to frequent marital disputes.The parents alleged that Praveen made a video call Monday night and they saw Bhagyashree gasping and crying for help while Praveen made no effort to save her. The parents alleged that prior to the incident, Praveen assaulted her with a wooden log and tried to hang her from it.A few days before the incident, Bhagyashree had returned to her parental home in Mahalingpur following an argument. Praveen brought her back; but the couple had another fight on Monday.Bhagyashree had been staying with her parents for the past two months. The parents said Praveen visited their home Monday, assured them that he would take good care of her and took her back to his house. The same night he tried to murder her, they told police.The couple had been married for six years and have a one-year-old son. SP Siddharth Goyal said Bilagi police will investigate the case. “Praveen suspected his wife of having an affair and the two had frequent quarrels over his suspicions,” he said.
