T’puram: Kazhakkoottam Police arrested a 56-year-old man in connection with the alleged assault of a Technopark employee and others following a dispute over road tarring.The incident took place on July 22 when the woman was returning home after work. The police said Chenkottukonam native Vijaya Kumar, who is a rowdy-sheeter, went into hiding after the incident. He was later traced to Karnataka and arrested.According to the police, the woman was attacked following a dispute related to the tarring of a road associated with Kumar. Those who tried to intervene were also allegedly assaulted.The police said Sreekanth, who reached the spot to resolve the issue, was hit on the nose with a stone. The second accused, Kiran, allegedly assaulted the complainant’s husband and Rishikesh, an association member.The incident triggered concern among Technopark employees. Prathidhwani, an organisation representing tech employees, submitted a complaint to senior police officers and the home minister seeking action.Kumar was produced before a court, which remanded him in judicial custody. Further investigation is under way.
