Rourkela: A 27-year-old man was allegedly hacked to death on Tuesday afternoon near a private school under Sector-7 police station limits. Another youth suffered injuries in the attack. Police have launched a manhunt for six accused who fled the spot. The deceased was identified as Tofan Bindhani of Ganjampalli, Sector-6.Bindhani was sitting with three friends at an isolated spot near the school when around six youths arrived around 1.45pm and attacked him with an axe, striking him on the neck and other parts of the body. One of his friends suffered an injury to his hand, while the other two fled. The assailants escaped.Bindhani was rushed to Ispat General Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Sector-7 police and a scientific team reached the spot and carried out an inquiry. His body is at the hospital. Sources said Bindhani had an altercation with some youths three days ago, and police suspect the dispute may have led to the attack.Police are investigating the motive and identifying those involved. “The search operation to nab the absconding accused is underway,” said DSP (Zone-I) M R Pradhan.
