Dakar: A U.S. health official on Tuesday said Washington had already committed over $700 million to help with the Ebola response and called on other states to also help.
“Having already committed over $700 million to this response from the United States, we call on others to please contribute resources as well. We need an aggressive response now …,” Jeff Graham, senior bureau official for the Bureau of Global Health Security and Diplomacy, told a virtual meeting of African heads of state on the Ebola outbreak, hosted by Burundi.
He was referring to both $375 million in direct funding to the countries affected by the outbreak plus around $350 million to address their broader humanitarian needs. (Reporting by Anait Miridzhanian and Emma Farge; Editing by Alison Williams)
