Kanpur: A 30-year-old man was found hanging in a mango orchard outside Chilsari village in Farrukhabad district’s Kaimganj Kotwali area late on Saturday.According to police, the body of the deceased, identified as Deepchand, was covered in blood, with his feet barely touching the ground.Villagers said that on Saturday evening, the deceased had been drinking alcohol with another resident, Rohit, also known as Bhima.Later that night, in an inebriated state, Rohit allegedly made comments about committing a murder in Gihar Basti, prompting villagers to alert the police. The deceased’s family members claimed that four years ago, a man named Jhabbulal from the village was murdered and Deepchand had served as a witness in the case. This, they alleged, led to Rohit harbouring a long-standing grudge against him.It is alleged that Rohit first encouraged Deepchand to consume alcohol before luring him to the orchard, where he allegedly killed him and hung the body.Circle officer Rajesh Kumar Dwivedi and inspector Vinod Kumar Shukla inspected the crime scene. Police have detained the suspect and begun questioning him. Following a complaint filed by the deceased’s brother, Shivoj, a case of murder has been registered against Rohit alias Bhima. The body has been sent for autopsy.
