Nagpur: A 51-year-old sales manager, Maroti Lanjewar, hanged himself at his Mahadula residence on Sept 6 after a realty firm allegedly refused to register a plot and demanded an extra Rs 12 lakh, police said. The deceased’s wife has named a real estate company’s director in a case of abetment of suicide.Maroti Lanjewar of Manvatkar Layout had been working at a real estate office at Khadgaon Road since 2021. He had booked a plot in Prarthana Nagari-1 for Rs 38 lakh, payable in five-year instalments.Complainant Ranjana Lanjewar (42), an ASHA worker, told police that the director of the realty firm later refused to register the plot unless another Rs 12 lakh was paid as development charges. Depressed, Lanjewar died by suicide at home. Koradi police have registered a case. No arrest has been made yet.
