Nagpur: Bappa has taken a cosmic detour this Ganesh Chaturthi, with Bal Yuvak Ganesh Mandal Social Foundation in Trimurti Nagar bringing its ‘Elements of Galaxy’ theme to life.As visitors enter the pandal, they are transported into a Milky Way-inspired universe, surrounded by bluish asteroids, floating planets and an elaborate celestial setup. The galaxy-themed decorations create an otherworldly atmosphere, blending the mysteries of space with the spiritual essence of Ganeshotsav. The installation has emerged as a visual attraction for devotees and visitors, offering them an opportunity to experience the festival against a backdrop inspired by the vastness of the universe.According to mandal member Deva Dehankar, the installation is part of their continued effort over the past 25 years to present new themes and concepts during Ganeshotsav. The organisers said they have consistently attempted to use their decorations to highlight different social, cultural and spiritual themes.“This year, we decided to explore the elements of the galaxy and present them in a way that would appeal to people of all age groups. The response from visitors has been overwhelming,” he said.Dehankar said that apart from the main theme, the mandal has also incorporated several smaller elements to keep visitors engaged, including representations linked to Indian culture and spirituality. The team has also focused on the idol and its presentation, ensuring that the decoration complements the spiritual character of Ganeshotsav. With a large number of volunteers involved, the mandal said preparations were carried out collectively, with workers handling everything from design and construction to social media promotion and visitor arrangements. The mandal is also observing its 25th anniversary this year. As part of its celebrations, the organisers have planned a series of activities during the festival. A special Seva Week has also been organised, during which the mandal has undertaken social initiatives.
