Kalaburagi: A 46-year-old man took his own life by hanging himself at Sulepet town in Chincholi taluk on Sunday night due to alleged harassment from microfinance personnel. Syed Salim, who resided in Sulepet town, was employed at a bakery. Salim borrowed Rs 20 lakh from a finance agency. On Sunday night, when his house was empty, Salim took the extreme step, sources said. His family members claim that continuous pressure for loan repayment led him to take this drastic step. In protest against the death, local residents placed Salim’s body in Sulepet town circle. Sulepet police station registered a case.
