Gorakhpur: A 25-year-old man’s death following a surgery triggered chaos at a private hospital in the Gorakhnath area on Wednesday, with family members alleging medical negligence.The deceased, Abhishek Maddheshia, a resident of Bhagwanpur under Pipiganj, was undergoing treatment for gallbladder stones at the hospital. He was admitted on Tuesday and operated upon around 8:30 pm, family members said.His father, Suresh, alleged that his son’s condition worsened soon after the surgery due to excessive bleeding caused by a “botched operation”. Abhishek died around 5:30 am on Wednesday.The family also accused doctors of not informing them about his deteriorating condition and alleged that hospital staff fled after his death. They further claimed that some staff members made insensitive remarks before the surgery.Abhishek, the eldest of five siblings, was preparing for a police job and had appeared for the sub-inspector exam this year. “We were waiting for his result. He was confident of clearing it,” his father said.Following the incident, agitated relatives created a ruckus inside the hospital. Police from Gorakhnath police station reached the spot, brought the situation under control, and took a written complaint from the family. SHO Vijay Pratap Singh said the matter is being investigated and appropriate action will follow.
