Varanasi: Following heated argument a man murdered his wife hitting her head with the handlebar of a hand pump in Bichhiya Khurd village under Sadar Kotwali police station area and dumped the body near Jalebiya Mod in the Chandraprabha jungle in Chandauli on Saturday night. The incident came to light on Sunday when the woman’s sister failed to contact her and alerted police.Chandauli’s CO (Sadar) Devendra Kumar said on Monday that when police reached the accused Gautam Kharwar’s house and interrogated him, he tried to mislead policemen. Eventually, he confessed his crime and the body of his wife, Soni (29), was recovered on Sunday. Kharwar was arrested after a case of murder was lodged, while the body was sent for post mortem, said police.Police said Soni married Gautam Kharwar in 2020. The couple quarrel frequently since the marriage. On Saturday evening, they quarrelled again, after which Kharwar attacked her with the handlebar of a hand pump. To destroy evidence, he took the body to Chandraprabha forests and dumped it near Jalebiya Mod.
