Udupi: Udupi Town police registered a case against a man for allegedly submitting a forged Aadhaar card to a district court to secure bail for an accused individual.The incident came to light following a formal complaint lodged by Abbas S, the chief executive officer of the Udupi district court. According to the complaint, the forgery took place during the bail proceedings for an accused named Nauman in an ongoing trial.The accused, identified as Farooq, allegedly tampered with an Aadhaar card belonging to a person named Prashanth. He altered the document to display the name and address of another individual, KT Muhammad, in Jan.The fraudulent act not only misled the court, but also cheated genuine document holders, Prashanth and KT Muhammad. Based on the CEO’s complaint, the Udupi Town police have registered a case under Sections 319(2), 340(2), 336(3), 318(4), and 229(1) of the BNS, as well as Section 35 of the Aadhaar Act.
