MCC commissioner Rahul Ratnam Pandey inspects waste disposal facilities and garbage black spots in Mangaluru on Friday

Mangaluru: In a citywide inspection on Friday, Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) commissioner Rahul Ratnam Pandey assessed waste disposal facilities and garbage black spots, issuing firm directives to officials to enhance sanitation efforts.The commissioner directed officials to install CCTV cameras at identified garbage black spots to prevent repeated dumping of waste and initiate action. Officials have also been instructed to serve notices on street food vendors if they are found disposing of waste on roads.The commissioner visited several areas in the city, including Shivaram Karanth Road, KS Rao Road, Lady Goschen Hospital, Central Market and other parts of the city. Officials from the city corporation’s health section, who accompanied the commissioner, explained the existing waste management arrangements to him.During the inspection, the commissioner interacted with sanitation workers and asked them about the methods being followed to clean the streets. He also discussed various issues related to maintaining cleanliness in the city.The commissioner instructed officials to ensure that dustbins are placed at all commercial establishments, including restaurants and shops. He instructed officials to ensure the immediate removal of construction debris and temporary structures encroaching footpaths.
