Kanpur: A woman was seriously injured after her husband allegedly assaulted her during a domestic dispute at Tola village under Rath Kotwali area of Hamirpur district on Thursday. The accused allegedly bit her cheek and severed her nose, leaving her critically injured. The victim, identified as Pana, was rushed to the community health centre in Rath for treatment. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was referred to Orai Medical College and later shifted to Jhansi Medical College, where she is currently undergoing treatment. According to the complaint filed by the woman’s brother Amruddin, the accused husband, Phool Khan, along with father-in-law Habib, allegedly abused and assaulted her. The complaint states that Phool Khan bit Pana’s cheek—requiring multiple stitches—and severed her nose with his teeth. He is also accused of issuing death threats to the woman. Following the complaint, Rath Kotwali police registered an FIR and initiated legal proceedings. Police said further action is being taken as part of the ongoing investigation.
