Jaisalmer: A man attacked a 12-year-old schoolgirl with a blade in Ramdevra in Jaisalmer district Saturday after she resisted his attempt to forcibly take her. The accused has been identified as Bharat Bheel (50).According to police, the incident occurred while the girl was returning home from school when the man tried to abduct her. When she resisted and attempted to free herself, the attacker allegedly slashed her neck with a blade. Hearing her screams, nearby women rushed to the spot and rescued her.The girl was first taken to a local hospital before being referred to Pokhran district hospital due to her critical condition.Ramdevra police ASI Daidan Singh reached the spot with his team after receiving information. The girl told police the attacker had been stalking and harassing her for a year and had a shop in the neighbourhood.On the basis of the girl’s statement and a report from her family members, the accused was detained. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
