Times News NetworkChandigarh: Angered over his wife staying at her parental home, a man allegedly barged into his mother-in-law’s house in Sector 15 and attacked her with a chopper on Sept 10 night.The woman suffered multiple blows to her head and fell to the floor, bleeding profusely. Her daughter, Shikha, alerted police, following which a PCR team rushed the injured woman to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, where she is undergoing treatment.According to the complaint, Shikha married Nayagaon resident Robin in 2020. The couple have a five-year-old daughter and a three-year-old son. She alleged that Robin had been harassing and assaulting her since their marriage.Around five months ago, Shikha left her husband’s home and moved in with her mother in Sector 15. The children stayed with Robin in Nayagaon.The woman told police that Robin, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, scaled the rear wall of the house on Sept 10 night and entered the premises carrying a chopper used for cutting coconuts.He allegedly asked Shikha to return with him and, after she refused, attacked her mother several times with the chopper. When the woman collapsed, Robin allegedly fled after threatening to kill her.Police are making efforts to nab the accused.
